A Unique Co-Living Experince For Families

Imagine your family waking up surrounded by the peaceful woodlands, fruit trees and grasslands of rural Portugal, where your family can cool off in the private freshwater lake, explore the beautiful gardens, visit the animals at the farm, play on the playground or make castles in the sand with friends while finding a connection to self, to community, and to nature. This may sound like vacation, but we have an on-site children's program and spaces to work for those who need the balance.You may have heard a lot about Porto, Sintra, or Lisbon, but now is the chance to experience Southern Portugal in its prime month - known for it's long sunny days world-class surf, and being a haven for families from all over the world.But this is more than just an eco glamping resort in Southern PortugalThis July 5th - August 1st, 2026, Cohli invites you to experience a one-month family coliving experience at Aterra, where you’ll find a place that feels like home and where each family member has the space to connect with others, rejuvenate, and experience how supportive it feels to connect with other families who share the same values.
About Aterra
Aterra is an ecological retreat and glamping space located in the Alentejo coastal region of Portugal, created by a Portuguese family as an extension of their home and their way of living. Rooted in hospitality, simplicity, and respect for the land, Aterra offers families a calm, nature-rich environment where daily life unfolds at a slower, more intentional pace.Built around permaculture ethics of earth care, people care, and fair shares, the space has been thoughtfully designed with families in mind. Children are encouraged to explore, play, and learn through practical experiences on the land, including gardens, shared outdoor spaces, and a small open farm that brings them into contact with animals and nature.In July, the weather is typically warm and dry, with sunny days and daytime temperatures often ranging between 25–30°C, making it well suited for outdoor living. Aterra is also within 20 minutes by car of several Atlantic beaches, allowing families to easily combine time in nature with beach days and surfing.Learn more about Aterra here.

What’s Included in the Coliving Experience
Your Own Family Sanctuary: Every family will enjoy their own accommodations and cozy, eco-conscious touches—think fresh linens, and furnishings crafted to help you feel comfortable and at home. Weekly deep cleaning is included.
Meals Made to Nourish and Connect: Breakfast is served every day. Families can opt-in to a catered lunch + dinner experience for an additional price or use the shared kitchen facilities to cook their own lunch and dinners. A communal area for sharing meals is a highlight of every cohort of ours. Saturday's are community pizza night, allowing the space to grow with the local community as well.
Activities for All Ages: There's no shortage of activities to participate in. Swim in the private freshwater lake, play on the on-site playground, ride horses, engage with the farm, kayak, surf, walk nature trails, wine tours, learn Portuguese cuisine, yoga, art, and more.
Our On-Site Kids Program: Lead by our facilitator and original Cohli member, Autumn, who has taught in private schools and worldschooled for several years, children of all ages will be enriched with different activities, projects, and exploration using the natural surroundings, all alongside their new best friends. This program is offered on-site on weekdays while parents are given the space to focus on work or something else.
Portuguese Cultural Immersion: Portuguese is the home country of our Cohli founder, Tiago. We'll provide opportunities to explore the beauty of Southern Portugal and learn about Portugal through his eyes - the best beaches, the tastes of summer like grilled sardines and green wine, the basics of the language, excursions to nearby areas, and more.

Enjoy the beauty of your natural surroundings with your private lounge area situated just outside of your yurt.
There is a private bathroom located at the back of each yurt with a beautiful bath tub, toilet and sink.
Our yurts can sleep up to 4 people. With a double bed and 2 single beds in each.
THE SUNSHINE TIPIS - €4,600
Three individual tipis await you, each boasting its own distinctive interior decor and furnished with a double bed and two single beds.
The shared showers and toilet facilities are located just a short walk away from your tipi.
CABINS - €5,600
The family cabin consists of a double bed and a bunk beds in separate rooms and a toilet. The shared showers are close by.
Step into a world of tranquil bliss with out trio of cabins, reminiscent of enchanting Balinese huts, featuring airy, light-filled interiors with high bamboo roofs and expansive forest-view glass windows.
The couples cabin consists of a double bed and a private bathroom with an en-suite shower.
THE WOODEN CHALET - €6,500
Experience a retreat in our forest chalet hidden in the depths of nature. This sustainable, natural building, enveloped in wood and cork, offers a unique sensory indulgence.
This beautiful property features a fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with bunk beds), a bathroom with a shower and toilet, and a lovely patio with a outdoor bed to relax and enjoy the sound of nature.
THE BELL TENT - €4,600
Introducing our brand new Bell tent, thoughtfully designed for comfort and style.
It comes fully equipped with a sofa, a spacious double bed, and two single beds, ensuring ample space for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
The Bell tent is located in a more private area of Aterra, just a short walk away from the shared bathrooms.
SILVIA - AIR-STREAM - €6,500
Introducing the newest addition to our family, the Air-Stream. Silvia, our meticulously crafted masterpiece, showcases exquisite brass furnishings and elegant wood accents throughout.
Complete with a cozy lounge-kitchen area with a sofa bed, en-suite shower, and a comfortable double bed, Silvia offers a luxurious stay. Outside there is a large deck with seating and shade, allowing you to enjoy the breathtaking beauty Aterra has to offer.

A Simple, Welcoming Application Process
Step 1: Share Your Interest & Join Cohli. The first form you fill out is to let us know your family is interested in participating. Afterwards, you'll move on to complete a short application to tell us about your family's goals, values, and needs. You'll then receive an invitation to join our community space to access these exclusive co-living experiences, connect with other Cohli families, and more.
Step 2: Get Matched & Meet Your Group. We’ll review your application to build a balanced community. If selected in the first round, you’ll be invited to join a virtual meet-up with other selected families in order to for all parties to get a feel of the group and answer any questions.
Step 3: Confirm & Prepare for Portugal. You'll secure your spot with a booking payment, and receive onboarding guidance with travel tips, schedules, and group chat access.

What’s included in the co-living experience?
Your stay includes private accommodations, daily breakfast, education program, access to shared spaces, some activities, and community support from Cohli.How does the payment structure work?
Reserve your spot with a deposit, which is the equivalent of your one-month stay. Additional security deposit before arrival, returnable within 7 days of departure. If minimum occupancy isn’t met, we’ll refund your deposit in full.Can we customize our experience?
Yes, you’re welcome to join planned activities or explore on your own. Optional excursions, like yoga or cultural tours, are available for an additional fee. Please tell us of any dietary needs or restrictions.How do you select families?
We carefully review each family’s application to build a balanced, supportive group where everyone feels at home.Is there childcare or a school program?
Yes. We'll have a lead teacher and assistants on-site M-F providing programming for the children.
